Top 10 Best Selling Cars in 2025

Automakers had a banner sales year, despite tough conditions in the form of rising sticker prices, interest rates and taxes imposed on imported cars and parts.

The auto industry had such a good year that the White House on Tuesday, Jan. 6 reported that US auto sales rose 2.4%, which it says is the industry’s best performance since 2019 and evidence that its prices are not making cars more expensive.

With that in mind, the USA TODAY Cars team scoured the automakers’ most recent sales reports to see who had the best or worst 2025 when it comes to sales.

Here are the top 10 best-selling car models among manufacturers that have reported full-year sales figures for 2025:

1. General Motors

2025 sales: 2,850,000

Best selling cars: Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra

What they say: GM said in a press release outlining its 2025 sales figures that it is “America’s full-size leader for the sixth consecutive year, with the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra recording their best combined sales in 20 years.” The company also said it led the full-size SUV market for the 51st year in a row and was the industry’s #2 EV seller by 2025.

2. Toyota

2025 sales: 2,518,071

Best selling car: Toyota Rav-4

What they say: Andrew Gilleland, senior vice president, Automotive Operations Group, Toyota Motor North America, said in a statement that the Japanese company is “very grateful for the strong response from our Toyota customers in 2025, which demonstrates our deep commitment to purchasing and choice.”

3. Ford

2025 sales: 2,147,811

Best selling car: F-Series

What they say: Ford said “market share grew by 0.6 percent for the year and 0.9 percent for the quarter, to 13.2 percent of the share for the year, thanks to Ford’s appeal to more customers with different trim levels and powertrain offerings.”

4. Honda

2025 sales: 1,430.57

Best selling car: Honda CR-V

What they say: Honda said in a press release that its sales in 2025 should be “their best year since 2021, which was a year-over-year increase of 0.5%. The company said that the increase in sales was achieved “despite the impact of changes in market conditions and the microchip shortage that contributed to the collection of small items in the fourth quarter.”

5. Stellantis

2025 sales: 1,260,344

Best selling car: Ram light duty pick up

What they say: Jeff Kommor, head of US retail sales, in a statement “with consecutive quarterly sales increases and market share growth, it is clear that we are taking the right steps to reset our business in the US.” Kommor added that the company “ended 2025 on a high note and will maintain that momentum in 2026 with five new models entering showrooms.”

6. Nissan

2025 sales: 926,153

Best selling car: Nissan Rogue

What they say: Nissan in a press release said its Kicks and Pathfinder SUVs “delivered strong performance in the calendar year, with sales up 33.9% and 25.6% respectively, each achieving their strongest annual volume since launch.”

Mike Soutter, senior vice president, US Marketing and Sales, Nissan Americas added that “trucks and SUVs were the clear engine of growth for Nissan in the fourth quarter and throughout 2025.”

7. Hyundai

2025 sales: 901,686

Best selling car: Hyundai Tucson

What they say: Randy Parker, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor North America, in a statement “Hyundai closed 2025 on a high note, achieving our fifth consecutive year of record sales, what we call the ‘5 for 5 in 2025’ mission, and delivering the best December prices and retail sales.”

8. Kia

2025 sales: 852,155

Best selling car: Kia Sportage

What they say: Kia said in a press release that “retail sales at Kia dealers have grown for the eighth consecutive year, growing 5 percent year-over-year and reaching a record high for the sixth year in a row.

9. Tesla

2025 sales: 589,160

Best selling car: Tesla Model Y

What they say: Tesla said in a statement to investors that “in the fourth quarter, we produced more than 434,000 vehicles, delivered more than 418,000 vehicles and installed 14.2 GWh of energy storage products – a record shipment.”

10. Volkswagen

2025 sales: 329,813

Best selling car: Volkswagen Tiguan

What they say: Volkswagen said in a press release that sales for the fourth quarter of 2025 were down 19.8% year-on-year compared to Q4 2024. Volkswagen said they closed the year down 13% from 2024.
