Debt and Credit

Say Goodbye to 2025!

Yes, I know I probably should have done this last year, literally. But these past weeks have been very crazy. Flying children come out. My mother has had some concerns that need attention. And the holidays…need I say more?

In fact, I had a whole to-do list that hadn’t been touched in the last two weeks. And I tend to be more productive during the last week of the year because it’s quieter. But that’s not the case this year.

So let’s talk about all the changes and accomplishments of the past year…and it was a LOT.

Personal Accomplishment

The Big Move

I finally bit the bullet after years of not being sure what to do after all the kids were out and sold my house and moved halfway across the country to live with my parents and be their caregiver. I never thought it would go as well as it did. Honestly, I really didn’t think this arrangement would make it through the summer. But I’m here and it’s going well, and it’s giving me much needed stability and breathing room to sort out my finances and my mind.

You Paid Off a Ton of Debt

Along with selling my house, I paid off a ton of debt. That alone has been a HUGE burden on my shoulders. And it gave me the freedom to really dive into conservation. I saved up a $10,000 nest egg within a few months and turned to focus on my remaining debt – my student loans.

New Hearing Aids

And this time, I paid cash for a big, but necessary purchase – new hearing aids. This is an ongoing saga, but it was really nice to be able to pay cash for such a large purchase. This is a new world for me.

Family Changes

In addition to my accomplishments, my little family went through a lot of changes.

  1. The gymnast found her first house.
  2. Princess graduated from college and started her business career in finance!
  3. Beauty & Redhead (who I’ve decided to call my new groom here) got married.
  4. Both twins move to new places, break up with longtime girlfriends, and continue to make adult decisions – new cars, going back to school and more.

There’s a lot going on. And in all, we met three different times this year – Miss’s graduation, Beauty’s wedding, and the holidays. I am blessed. We are very blessed.

Don’t get me wrong, parts of 2025 were very difficult. But when I look back, all I see are blessings.

And now…it’s time to look forward with purpose! Happy New Year, everyone!
