Maker space – free at your library

I’m still not sold on living in Texas. That’s right, it’s too hot! But man, there is so much to do here within just a few miles. And that was a breath of fresh air after living in an evenied, small town for the last 9-ish years.

One of the first things I did when I moved here was get a library card. I study hard. Each time. Every day. Many books a week. Always. You get the point.

While I love the book in hand, with all the movement and travel, it can mean late fees if you don’t return it on time, I’ve learned that digital access is very helpful for my lifestyle. So now, I only do digital output.

Here’s what I got when I submitted myself and my email piece to get a library card. They have a maker space! And it’s free to use!

What is the manufacturer’s space?

This is what Google had to say when I asked this question:
“She’s a housewife A co-working space, often found in schools, libraries, or community centers, where people can gather to share tools and resources, to learn and to learn. These spaces provide access to a wide variety of tools, from High-Tech Equipmers such as 3D printers and laser cutters to traditional arts and materials, “hands-on learning. They encourage creative problem solving and the development of skills in areas such as stem, digital design, and entrepreneurship.

Oral Example

Not my local library but very similar to this.

And they offer free classes… Every single week! This just makes my artistic and artistic hearts so happy.

They have laser pointers, 3 d printers, sewing machines, circles and much more. You can save time using the space for your projects or take one of their many classes.

I took the laser cutting class. My body and I went to a class where we made shadow boxes with circles and electric lights, and this week I’m taking a book making class.

Free, fun… Great for all ages! (We didn’t have this at the Teety library in Tiny Town Georgia.) Check out your local library. (And yes, it’s definitely a tool I’m using as I approach this Christmas, giving the season!)
