What to expect from our new website

We have some exciting news. The white coat investor just got a fresh new look and a completely redesigned website.
The website is easy to navigate, so you can quickly find the resources, content, and trusted experts you’re looking for. It has fewer ads (as you’ve been asking for years), and it’s better organized – so you can find what you need as quickly and easily as possible.
Personally, I’m very happy with the performance and speed. Doctors are not like the “top” stuff, especially emergency doctors like me. Not only will the site help you learn what you need to learn to take control of your financial life, but it will better connect you with the resources you need to do it regularly. And it’s obviously a lot to look at.
Redestign has become the “baby” of many of our employees and has required thousands of hours of work, and we are excited about how it will work better for you. It may take a little getting used to, but we promise it will be worth it. Of course, if something is clear from the previous version, let us know and we’ll see what we can do about it. But after literally months of testing, we don’t think any of the changes are a step backwards. Yes a little different (and no one likes change), but better once you get used to it.
History of the White Coat Investor Website
Fifteen years ago, I started a blog to share what I was learning about personal finance and investing. What started as a small passion project has grown into a trusted resource for doctors and other high-income professionals who want to take control of their financial lives. Back in May 2011, when I moved all the stuff I’d picked up typing on Internet forums over the years to the white coat website, it looked like this:

It was very basic as well. . . Well. . . brown. Brown with a bluish tint. And it stayed that way for something like five years. Since I didn’t make any money for years, I was a tech guy (and everything else) for a long time. And that was the best I could do. In 2016, WCI could do enough to get a little help from the technical side, and we redid our first website – including the creation of the WCI forum, the first of our online communities. The place then looked like this:

Looking for familiarity? Yes, now you know one reason why we started the big project of the last two sources. Eighteen people work here now (half of them full time) instead of three time-timers, and it was time to release the website in the 2010s and 2020s.
After burning through WCI in 2019, where we were the only ones working, we went on a full staff hiring binge starting in 2020. Our second hire? Chief Technology Officer (CTO). I probably don’t have to tell you what his first ideas were about what we were doing with technology – previous wisdom before when I was CTO. Now, our tech team has grown to three. Also, we have a person whose only job is to create and make everything we do as attractive and effective as possible.
But they were far from the people involved in the project. This project grew bigger and bigger until it exhausted everyone working here, almost full time for most of the last year. I am grateful to the entire WCI team for their dedication to this project in addition to their normal work. You should be very proud of your work. I know that I am.
Look how beautiful she is!

Click from page to page, and you’ll see a nice, consistent look. However, looks are just the beginning. The website is fast, the menus are very functional, and it’s the best place to connect you to the resources you need without annoying you and freeing up our staff to use their time.
What we do here
Thank you for being a part of the white coat community. Thank you for reading blog posts, listening to podcasts, watching videos, participating in online communities, giving away books, using our recommended resources, and especially making small money conversations.
We know that when doctors are financially secure, they are better partners, parents and doctors. The first people start learning about money, the biggest impact can be on their lives. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us.
I started the White Coat Investor Blog in 2011 after studying finance. I realized that I had found out through employers, lenders, Insurance Agents, Real Estate Agents, and financial advisors – and by myself. I realized that if the doctors had not learned this, this would have continued year after year. When I was trying to teach them about the forums, it became clear to me that the doctors were hungry for this information, and no one was teaching them in any consistent, systematic, random way.
As a business, WCI was for-profit from the start, but no significant profits were made. That first year, I had over $900 in income, and I wrote it all off. My goal was to make $1,000 a month within two years. It was close, but I did it. A little bit.
Needless to say, maybe it would have been wiser for me to spend all that time working extra shifts rather than typing thousands and thousands of words driven by the zeal of missionaries to give other documents that have been shaped by the wall of the road. But I saw the income grow slowly, and most importantly, I saw the difference the message made in the lives of dozens, then thousands, then tens of thousands, then tens of thousands of doctors and their colleagues. Actually millions of people came through the website every year. I felt purposeful, and it soon became clear how pathetic we, as a society, were.
It was doctors against Wall Street, and the WCI community was leading the charge!
In 2014, we published our first book, The White Coat Investor: A Doctor’s Guide to Personal Finance and Investing. That led to more growth and more opportunities to help. We’ve published three more books, a financial boot camp, a student guide, and an asset protection guide – and we’re working on a resident guide to release in 2026.
Over time, I came to appreciate that not every financial professional would take advantage of the doctor’s opportunities. Most people end up needing to borrow money, get a loan, buy insurance policies, and have contracts reviewed at some point in their careers. I also estimate that something like 80% of doctors need, want, and should use a financial advisor and/or investment manager. There are good people out there, who have added another layer to WCI’s Mission: Connecting doctors to good financial professionals they can trust.
A year after the first year of the new website in 2017, we present the White Coance Cost Podcast to spread financial education information, question visitors, and answer questions while walking, exercising, and walking the dog. We have built on the growth of the podcast by adding important segments to the Millionaire podcast in 2021, which celebrate financial things, no matter how small, with guests and use them to inspire other segments.
In 2018, we launched our first human, real life and financial conference, Aka WCCON. While guaranteeing a 1,400 room night and hundreds of thousands of dollars in food purchases at a luxury hotel still feels like the biggest financial risk we take, it’s become one of our favorite weeks of the year. It’s not just because we get somewhere in the sun at the end of winter and come together as a community. Most of us don’t have people in our daily lives that we can talk to freely about money, but those people surround you at WCCICON. This event brings together a group of people who understand your world; they are not willing to learn; Who are willing to tell their stories, support each other, and have tons of fun while doing it. We’re doing it again March 25-28, in Las Vegas.
2018 was a busy year as we relaunched our online course, Your Financial Fire. This course was to support people who want to become a DIY investor, but it also helps to teach you how to find financial experts if you decide that you want to move some of your household activities. In 2024, fire Your financial advisor was available in student and residential versions in addition to our best-selling option, which includes all the original course and Wellness content to make it CME relevant.
For years, we had people asking for us in the real estate district, so in 2022, we launched a real estate investment course.
Starting to organize white coats
Now, after 15 years of talking about how the financial planning industry can work better for people and after seven years of teaching you how to manage your money through our course, we’ve realized that many WIRIRS need more. We are pleased to have created what we envision to be the ideal advisory firm to serve all types of investors. We are keen to offer good advice at a fair price and we work for top paying professionals with integrity, expertise and care.
It’s a risk to try something different, but the chance to build something better for a community we care deeply about — and maybe change an industry in the process — is worth it.
While we are not accepting clients, if you would like to be kept up to date with our developments, you can sign up for our commitment interest list here. And if you know any editors who would like to focus on giving good financial advice instead of finding or selling products, send them a link to the full job listing here.
A new look but the same commitment to serving you
While the white coat tailor has grown, our work has not changed.
We are here for you. We’re here to provide you with accurate (and if you’re lucky, a little fun) help on your journey to financial success, to celebrate your success, and. You can get this!

We hope this improved website makes it easier to find educational resources and trusted experts.
Despite months of pre-launch testing, there are certain things that don’t pass muster and we hope they don’t look or work as intended. If you find those items, please let us know by commenting below or emailing us at [email protected].
We are very excited about this next evolution of the white coat and continue to work on it. Thank you for being a white coat investor.
