How to Get Big Discounts on Shipping Rates

Millions of people go on cruises every year looking for a stress-free way to see the world. After all, your food, accommodation and entertainment are usually all rolled into one neat package. All you have to do is book and write.
For those entering retirement age, time at the beach can be a dream vacation – but it gets even better. Travelers age 50 or older have access to “senior” discounts on travel.
The following are a few ways senior travelers can get a discount on a cruise.
1. Book with Royal Caribbean International
The cruise offers discounts to travelers 55 and older, though a Royal Caribbean International representative told Money Talks News that the discounted rates “vary depending on season and availability.”
Visit RoyalCaribbean.com to book your cruise online. As you go through the checkout process, you can see if your chosen trip qualifies for a higher discount.
When you get to the step that asks for the number of guests, click “Use promo code and special prices.” A pop-up will open allowing you to select the type of discount you want. Select “Seniors (Ages 55+)” and click “Apply discounts.”
2. Book with Carnival Cruise Line
Carnival offers premium rates to passengers 55 and older, but they do not advertise a fixed rate and discounts are not available on every cruise. Carnival Cruise Line did not respond to Money Talks News’ request for information.
To find the perfect cruise, Carnival’s website says in an email [email protected].
Alternatively, you can select the cruise of your choice and during the booking process, Carnival will ask if you are 55 or older. Check that box if it applies and click “Continue.” After selecting the room of your choice, Carnival shows you a list of relevant discounts to choose from.
3. Book with MSC Cruises
Bookings with MSC’s “Senior Club promo” can get a 10% discount on all cruises. The caveat is that the age requirement is higher than most, requiring customers to be 65 or older to receive the discount.
All you have to do is visit the Cruises for Seniors page and select the cruise you would like to take.
4. Join AARP
You can start enjoying discounts when you turn 50 when you become an AARP member. Simply book travel online through the AARP Travel Center powered by Expedia.
You can earn up to $100 in onboard credit on select cruises with major cruise lines. AARP members can also receive travel discounts through AARP-affiliated travel companies. They currently include Collette, Grand European Travel and Holland America.
5. Join AMAC
Once you reach the age of 50, you can also join the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) and save big on travel and lodging.
AMAC partners with travel lines to offer discounts, bonuses and free upgrades to its members. Member benefits currently exclude booking fees, a 5% cruise discount and price monitoring. Participating cruise lines include Carnival, Crystal, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean International. For more information or to book your discounted cruise, visit TravelPerks.com/AMAC.
