Costco’s New Sundae Is A Sweet Country With Consumers

Costco is getting into the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day. Patrick and is increasingly spreading to find new fun.
The popular wholesaler has added a green, new flavor to its sundae lineup: the double chocolate mint sundae.
The social media account Costco Buys, which tracks “hot Costco finds,” said in an Instagram post that the new double chocolate mint sundae, priced at $2.99, includes “mint ice cream topped with crumbled cookies and rich chocolate sauce.”
“The mint and chocolate combo is delicious, refreshing, and extra chocolatey in the best way,” says Costco Buys, adding that this dessert contains “790 calories of food court chaos.”
Costco’s latest dessert dropped on Feb. 16, according to The Street and Food & Wine.
Costco did not immediately respond to USA TODAY’s request for more information about its latest menu, and it is unclear if the new dessert has been rolled out nationwide.
Social media is reacting to the new sundae at Costco
Another social media user named Costco Guide Angela said in a TikTok video that the sundae reminded her of a “little Girl Scout cookie.”
Utah-based digital designer Morgan Chomps said the sundae is “a solid offering for March” and comes with “lots of chocolate sauce drizzled over cookies and chocolate chip cookies.”
The soft-flavored soft serve is available on its own or with vanilla, according to Food and Wine. The store added that the new mint flavor has replaced Costco’s soft chocolate for now, noting that the retailer already rotates soft flavors on its food court menus, meaning the new flavor is likely limited.
Costco Chika, a content creator based in California, in a TikTok video said that the Costco she visited offered a new mint flavor in eight different ways, including a strawberry sundae, which she tried and enjoyed.
Costco’s new drop didn’t take long to gain popularity on social media, with many users sharing their thoughts and reviews about the new flavor.
Shamrock Shake returns from McDonald’s
Costco isn’t the only one offering a little beauty this season.
McDonald’s on Feb. 17 has brought back its beloved Shamrock Shake in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Patrick, which is celebrated on March 17.
Featuring vanilla soft-serve ice cream, lime-flavored syrup and whiskey, the Shamrock Shake has been a cult classic since its inception in 1970. The minty milkshake is available for a limited time each year before the lucky holiday.
The Oreo Shamrock McFlurry will reappear on the McDonald’s menu starting Feb. 17. The seasonal dessert, which debuted in 2020 to celebrate the Shamrock Shake’s 50th anniversary, is made with soft serve vanilla ice cream, artificially flavored mint green syrup and Oreos.
