Classic Blast – Izzy Update

by Temba
Many long-time readers will remember when we moved from a 900 square foot apartment to trailers 10 years ago, we had to re-home our animals. It was a very difficult time.
Before everyone jumps down my throat on that again, we brought back three animals:
- Mene – a chihuahua that we ended up with when a military family had to move and needed someone to take their small dog.
- Princess Cat – who went with us to the 30 acre area where the carriage was, but became an outdoor cat instead of an indoor cat. He ended up staying in that place with the family that lived there when we moved to Georgia.
- Izzy – a puppy found in a dump that was brought to us for care.
Izzy is waiting as Princess sleeps in our house
Except for the cat, we didn’t go out and take animals just to kill them. Anyway…
Update on Izzy
This week I received a message from the family that took Izzy when we moved. They were trying to find out how old he was.
They were also a homeschooling family and their oldest son and Sea Cadet met at summer camp where they both attended and worked.
“Is he the most spoiled in the family? [my husband] he died of cancer in April and Izzy was his faithful companion during his 4.5 year battle. He is a loyal friend and we all look forward to seeing him age a little???”
He also sent a few pictures.

The kids and I have been going back and forth trying to figure out how old she is. The best we can guess is 11-12 years old. The twins admit that they were brought down after they came in and stayed with me when they were 12 and now they are 27.
Anyway, it was great to hear from this family and see Izzy. He got to live his best life.
(Mene was an old man when we found him. He ended up living with a sailor and his new wife who were our neighbors in the apartment. I think it was better for Mene to accept them than to take him. But he died a few years ago. We were in touch again.)
Just thought some of you long time readers might enjoy this update as much as I did.
