While the retail space is full of discount options, Dollar Tree earned the top spot in the dollar store category. It’s an important win for the chain as it continues to compete for loyalty among value-conscious consumers, who may not be in the income bracket you’d expect.
No more discrimination in the store
An increase in confidence reflects a change in the consumer’s mindset known as the trade-down effect. Even as inflation cools, consumers have inflation fatigue, causing a shift in how American consumers define value.

Recent data shows that households earning more than $100,000 make up 60% of the company’s 3 million new customers. Although these top earners may visit fewer times than core customers, they spend about $1 more per visit.
