Why I Made a Budget for Peace (Not Advertising to Anyone) 2026

I am working on a new budget with the thought of having only money. It’s a really new concept. And a little scary. You can see my 2025 budget here.)
Thanks to Financial Peace University, a peaceful living situation, and a period of life that seems to make ten, even 2 years ago, my budget needs a complete overhaul and a lot of thinking!
This is not a “big goals, tough rules” budget.
This is to protect my nervous system budget.
What “Peace Planning” Really Means to Me
The silence is ambiguous. It is straightforward. It is usable. And that’s exactly how I live right now.
Here’s what peace looks like in my 2026 budget.
1. Fewer Stages, Fewer Decisions
If I have to negotiate with myself every time I spend money, the budget breaks.
So peace looks like this:
- simplified categories
- expected spending
- several “maybe” line items
I’m tired. I don’t want to argue with my budget or the BAD community. I want it to support me and make financial decisions easier/cleaner.
2. My Real Life Margin (Not Imaginary)
My lifestyle is quiet. A little bit. More home based. More care. More hermit, less chaos.
So my budget includes:
- easy when it saves energy, that means, yes, I pay Walmart+ to get ALL my groceries delivered
- the unexpected room
I don’t budget like I’m running marathons when I’m clearly on track right now.
3. Clear Boundaries Using Emotional Capital
Quiet periods can be a scam. And I am not immune to those “I need to go shopping” moments.
So my budget now takes:
- feelings will arise
- a loner would try to swipe my card
- pressure may whisper “just buy it”
Silence looks like pausing, composing a feeling, and choosing something that doesn’t show up in a statement.
This is HUGE for me. (Today meant going out to DoorDash and heating up some of last night’s casserole.)
4. Actual Schedule of Income and Extraordinary Expenses
Peace looks like this:
- sinking funds
- boring consistency
- and not being shocked when life does what it always does
This alone reduced my stress more than any motivational quote ever did.
5. Money That Supports My Values, Not My Ego
My budget reflects what is important now:
- stability
- faith
- management
- rest
- and the freedom to say no
I don’t need my money to tell others a story. I need it to make my life quiet. I see that the BAD community does not agree with my recent decision to tithe again. But it’s important to me.
What This Budget Is Not
Don’t overdo it.
It’s not fancy.
It is not intended for praise.
Prepared for sleep.
2026 goal (Spoiler: It’s not a number)
The goal isn’t a perfect spreadsheet or an amazing payday. (Okay, maybe it’s still payday!)
The goal is:
- few financial surprises
- few internal arguments
- Several stress responses are tied to money
I am finally learning that money is a tool, not a test.
And this stage of life?
I choose silence on purpose.
Not because I came – but because I learned.
And that might be the most important return yet.
