I have been working as a freelancer for several years now and I love it because of the flexibility. Also, it allowed me to try different jobs to find out what kind of work I like. For example, I know now that I don’t really like graphic design or social media management (many people like it, and you can like it a lot, but I personally like other freelance jobs) and I like project management and auxiliary work.

Why I like to relieve myself at home

There are so many reasons to love traveling so much at home, but my main reasons are:

The freedom to set my own schedule (this is amazing!)
There is no time to go or leave
More time for family and dogs

Other reasons I like to drive are the flexibility to get a crack when needed (I cut my gas pedal), save money on gas and car maintenance, and have fun.

How I got my first freelance job

My first freelance job was over ten years ago, and it came from networking; Now, I find freelance jobs on sites like Upwork.

If I were starting over today, here is what I would do:

Choose a skill like writing, designing, helping, coding, etc.
Create 2-3 sample projects (whether they are unpaid or “pretend” projects) to show your work to potential clients.
It aims to find simple tasks to build experience and review.
They work often and don’t expect to hear back from every job.
Have great communication and respond quickly.

How do I get clients these days

The #1 way I find clients and jobs these days is on weird sites like Upwork. Upwork is a brilliant platform that connects freelancers with clients around the world. You can find jobs here in writing, design, admin, programming, sales, customer service, and much more. Jobs are short-term or long-term, and freelancers apply for these positions by sending proposals.

To start working, you need to create a strong profile that includes a professional headshot, relevant skills, and a short bio. You can and should add portfolio samples of your work, even if it’s self-made work.

Reviews are important to UPwork, as they show that others recommend you. If you’ve done freelance work before, you can actually have people bring reviews to your profile. However, the best way to get noticed is to get reviews directly from completed Upwork jobs, so keep that in mind.

Apply for jobs that suit your skills (but also don’t be afraid to shoot for the stars sometimes; you don’t always need all the qualifications).
Start with small, short-term projects to establish credibility and credibility.

What I wish I knew was that I started to free myself

After ten years of self-release and closure, I have learned many lessons that can save you time and frustration. This includes courses such as:

Finding quality clients to work with also takes time; Patience is important.
Set clear boundaries around work hours. This is difficult to do at first since you are at home and the work is on the laptop, but it is important so that you do not leave it dry.
Not all clients are good; It’s okay to say no.

Once you have a few clients, a simple website can make you look professional and attract high-paying jobs. As you grow and get more jobs, you can expand your website with testimonials, case studies, and a blog to dive into the waters you’ve completed.

The easiest way to find your freelance rate is to look at what other majors are charging in your field and your level of experience. You can actually do this by looking for freelancers for hire on the website. You can also decide how you want to bill clients, either by the hour or by project rates.
