Imagine not paying any property tax in your city. That’s true for homeowners in several communities across the US

In these areas, you may have to pay property taxes to another entity, such as the county where you live. But the city itself does not fit in your pocket.

Here are the cities where homeowners get a break on their property taxes.

Sedona, Arizona

Although you won’t pay property taxes to the City of Sedona, you will owe the city’s monthly sewer and sales taxes.

Sedona is among the cities featured in the article “10 of the Best Places to Retire in Arizona (From Small Towns to Tucson).”

On its website, the City of Apache Junction proudly asks residents to check their property taxes on the “city tax” line item. Then, it goes on to note that the line item “will be empty or contain zeros.”

Instead, Pinal County handles property taxes for homeowners in the county.

Sales taxes are a different matter. That rate in Apache Junction is 9.1%, which includes funds from the city, county and state. Of that, 2.4% goes to the city.

Ballwin, Missouri
